Why Choose our Prints?
Location: Avoid direct sunlight when choosing the perfect location for your new print. Consistent, direct sunlight causes artwork to fade and lose color quickly.
Care: When it comes to caring for your print, there are several rules to follow to ensure the artwork stays protected from harmful elements. For art without a clear front panel, avoid:
- touching the art with your hands. This introduces natural oils onto the print and can eventually cause damage and staining. Always wear soft cotton gloves when handling the art.
- cleaning the print with harsh chemicals. Dust lightly with a soft brush or duster. Never scrub the surface of the print. This can cause irreversible damage to the print and leave unsightly marks. A small amount of water can be used to spot-clean prints, but it is better to test in an inconspicuous area (such as near the edge, usually hidden by a frame) before use.
How Do I Frame Prints?
Framing: When framing prints, consider where you are placing the piece. If avoiding direct sunlight is not an option, consider framing behind UV-filtering acrylic instead of glass to preserve the art. Make sure to include sturdy backing such as cardboard, foam, or wood to hold the art in the frame. You may also consider including acid-free mat paper to better frame and position the artwork. Prints require different care from original pieces, but it is still best to make sure no fingerprints get on the side of the glass or acrylic panel that is on the inside of the frame, touching the art. This is because the natural oils from fingerprints may eventually stain the surface. How Do I Choose the Correct Size Artwork for my Space?
So many options, and so many sizes! Although there are many ways to achieve a striking, cohesive room design, there are a few general rules to follow:
- Wall art should take up anywhere between 60%-75% of available wall space.
- Wall art hung above furniture, moldings, fireplaces, etc. should have a 6-12 inch gap between the art and the furniture.
- Wall art above furniture should be 2/3-3/4 of the furniture's width.
These guidelines are the first step to achieving the look you desire. For more information, check out our blog post about choosing the perfect art size depending on the style you choose. But most importantly, have fun with the design, and don't be afraid to experiment with different styles - the possibilities are endless!
